This is episode 7 of The Americans “Walter Taffett”. The episode title reveals much, as things cannot continue status quo. In typical Americans fashion, those “things” are relationships more than spy plots. Walter Taffett is brought in as the internal investigator to explore the listening device found in Gaad’s pen. This all started by the work of Martha planting the pen under the direction of Clark/Philip. Martha begins to question in earnest her marriage to Clark. Sandra steps farther away from Stan. Philip and Elizabeth move farther away and then closer to each other.
