True Detective season 2, episode 1 “The Western Book of the Dead”. Michelle and Mike discuss the start of the new season. Nic Pizzolatto continues his dark detective theme and Justin Lin takes over as director of this episode. Pizzolatto mines the noir theme that worked so well in Season 1. Hopefully he won’t overcook it and keep heaping characters on us. Some of them could be really interesting if we see them coalesce around a more direct plot.
